Finished The Hunger Games but still hungry?  Try Battle Royale. In the future, the Japanese government captures a class of ninth-grade students and forces them to kill each other under the revolutionary “Battle Royale” act.  Published in 1999, the book has been adapted into a film and a manga series and translated into English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Norwegian, and Hungarian.  It’s more violent than The Hunger Games trilogy but it explores similar themes.
